TCD’s guide to Mother’s Day Brunch

Moms are special ladies– they nurture us, they inspire us, they stay up late to put the finishing touches on that model solar system at the eleventh hour. Truth told, moms deserve special treatment every day.

Maybe you’re not a culinary whiz, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat mom to a great meal on Mother’s Day. TCD recommends a few of our favorite brunch spots ( all featuring something special for Mom this Sunday) and we want to wish all the amazing mamas out there a happy Mother’s Day!

Beans and Barley 1901 E. North Ave., Milwaukee
If you’re having trouble making a reservation for Mother’s Day brunch, this East Side cafe seats on a first-come, first-served basis.  Along with their regular menu, they will be featuring a special asparagus and chevre omelet for Mother’s Day–perfect for the vegetarian mom.  While you’re waiting to be seated, peruse the market for a nice bottle of wine or organic soap as a gift for mom. Coquette Cafe 316 N. Milwaukee St., Milwaukee
This Third Ward favorite invites you to take mom out to sample a special Mother’s Day brunch menu, which includes items like Chicken Confit crepes and Brioche French toast as well as some of their classic menu items.  Open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., call 414-291-2655 for reservations.

Edelweiss 205 W. Highland Ave., Milwaukee
Take mom on a scenic cruise of Milwaukee sites while enjoying your mid-day meal.  Brunch is a three-course, seated meal including champagne, orange juice, French toast, vegetable frittata, bacon, sausage, muffins, and fresh fruit cobbler.  Cost is $42 per person and tours are 2 hours long departing at 12 p.m. and returning at 2 p.m.  Use the link above to book your tickets online.

Envoy 2308 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee
Located inside the Ambassador Hotel, Envoy is quickly becoming a Milwaukee brunch favorite with their Sunday unlimited small-plate menu.  This Mother’s Day, they will be hosting a champagne brunch, featuring a carving station, waffle station and made-to-order omelet station.  Cost is $25.95 per person.  Though they are already booked up, call 414-345-5015 to get on the waiting list.

Flemings 15665 W. Bluemound Rd., Brookfield
From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., treat mom to a 3-course brunch menu. Regular menu selection will also be available throughout the day. As an added bonus, mom will receive a $25 Dining Card for a future evening out. Cost is $32.95 per person.  Reservations can be made online.

Hubbard Park Lodge 3565 N. Morris Blvd., Shorewood
Take in the beautiful Milwaukee River park setting of the Hubbard Park Lodge while enjoying a brunch buffet featuring made-to-order omelets and other breakfast selections, turkey and pork loin at the carving station, salads, pasta, peel & eat shrimp, and dessert.  Cost is $24.95 for adults; $11.95 for children 2-12; and free for children 2 and under. Kil@wat 139 E. Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee
A 3-course brunch featuring delicious entrees like grilled steak and rainbow trout will be served from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Mom gets to enjoy a rose and complimentary bottomless glass of sparkling wine, mimosa, or Bloody Mary. Mason Street Grill 435 E. Mason St., Milwaukee
Featuring a holiday a la carte menu including prime rib, Eggs Benedict, and Crab Cake Oscar, mom can enjoy brunch or dinner during their special hours of 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Call 414-298-3131 for reservations.

Metro Cafe 411 E. Mason St., Milwaukee
Located inside the Hotel Metro, the Metro Cafe’s Bountiful Brunch Buffet will feature unique items like seared grouper, Port-glazed pheasant and a build-your-own potato bar, as well as classics like made-to-order omelets, smoked salmon, and an artisanal cheese board.  The buffet will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Cost is $28 for adults and $12 for children under 12.  Call 414-225-3268 to make your reservation.

Milwaukee ChopHouse 633 N. 5th St., Milwaukee
Enjoy a 4-course lunch or dinner, with a menu including salmon and petite filet.  All diners receive a complimentary glass of champagne and mom also gets a rose from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Cost is $55 per person.  Milwaukee ChopHouse is in the Hilton Hotel.  For reservations call 414-226-CHOP.

Milwaukee Public Museum 800 W. Wells St., Milwaukee
The museum will host a butterfly-themed brunch with food from Zilli’s Catering, butterfly crafts for kids, and live butterfly releases in the Puelicher Butterfly Vivarium.  The menu features juice, coffee, champagne service, a continental assortment of pastries and fruit, a selection of breakfast and brunch entrees, salads, and a dessert station.  Enjoy discounted pricing to the Mummies of the World exhibit with the purchase of brunch. Choose one of three available seatings: 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 12:45 p.m. Cost for members and moms: $31; non-members: $36; member children (ages 4-11): $17; nonmember children (4-11): $22.  Call 414-278-2728 to make reservations by Friday, May 6.

Mo’s Irish Pub 142 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee and 10842 W. Bluemound Rd., Wauwatosa
Mo’s will be hosting an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring prime rib, shrimp cocktail, baked ham, and made-to-order omelets.  Moms receive a complimentary glass of champagne, and bottomless mimosas are just $7.95.  Cost is $19.95 for adults; $6.95 for children 12 and under.  Children under 3 eat free!

Motor Restaurant 401 W. Canal St., Milwaukee
Many of Milwaukee’s cool moms will be headed to the Rock ‘n Roll Brunch at Motor Restaurant in the Harley Davidson Museum this Sunday.  This brunch boasts an all-you-can-eat buffet with kids’ tables, live music, and a temporary “Mom” tattoo for all guests.  After brunch, moms enjoy free admission to the museum.  Call 414-287-2778 for reservations.

The Pfister 424 E. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee
A Grand Mother’s Day Brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom.  This impressive brunch features seafood, artisanal bread, made-to-order pasta, omelets and pancakes, Virginia ham, and a dessert table.  Cost is $49.95 for adults; $24.95 for children 5-12; and free for children 4 and under. Roots 1818 N. Hubbard St., Milwaukee
Before you get too excited, we should let you know that Roots is completely booked for brunch. But never fear! They have plenty of spots open for Sunday dinner, and what better way to cap off Mother’s Day than with a delectable farm-to-table meal with gorgeous views of the Milwaukee River? This week’s Sunday Supper menu includes Herb Roasted Chicken, Asparagus and Chevre Whipped Potatoes. Call 414-374-8480 for reservations.

Saz’s State House 5539 W. State St., Milwaukee
This reservations-only brunch will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m and will feature a buffet of items like Eggs Benedict, breakfast burritos, BBQ ribs and chicken, and more.  Diners also receive a complimentary champagne or mimosa, and can enjoy the chocolate dipping station afterward.  Cost is $26 for adults; $10 for children 3-11.  Call 414-453-2410 to reserve your spot.

This Mother’s Day brunch includes menu selections like seafood crepes, crab cake Eggs Benedict, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and strawberry cream waffles.  Mom gets a free strawberry champagne sorbet for dessert.  Call 414-747-9800 for reservations.

Stonefire Pizza 5320 S. Moorland Rd., New Berlin
This is not a brunch, but who can turn down a buffet and day of pampering? Mothers will be treated to complimentary massages in massage chairs, mimosas, chocolate covered strawberries and flowers.  Children will be supervised by Party Hosts while participating in arts and crafts for Mom.  Receipt raffles will be held every hour, with a grand prize gift basket giveaway. Tulip 360 E. Erie St.
Tulip describes their open buffet Mother’s Day brunch as “an elegant blend of authentic Turkish breakfast dishes and American brunch favorites.”  Held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., this brunch costs $22 for adults; $12 for children 6-12; and is free for children under 6.  Reserve your table online using OpenTable.

Whole Foods Market 2305 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee
If you’re looking to do Mother’s Day brunch on a budget, you might want to check out Whole Foods’ buffet–all 16 feet of it, stocked with breakfast, lunch, and brunch items for $7.99 per pound.  The buffet will be open from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Call 414-223-15o0 for more information.
