Milwaukee is a funny place

In the six years since its inception, the Milwaukee Comedy Festival has grown from an underground showcase of local talent to a thriving four-day event, attracting comics of all stripes from our own backyard and well beyond.

While the festival garners national (and international) attention with submissions from Chicago, New York, and even Canada, at it’s core, it’s a great way to see a ton of local comedians on the same stage. August 4 – 7, Milwaukeeans can catch sketch groups like broadminded and Homegrown Electric Circus, improv troupes like Worst Case Scenario, and those brave souls – stand-up comedians like the collective Caste of Killers, all under one roof. And that’s just to name of few of the over 30 acts happening next weekend.

Today, festival organizers (and regular old funny guys themselves) Matt Kemple and Patrick Schmitz offer a preview of the festival and explore Milwaukee’s ever expanding comedy scene.
