Mondo Lucha! and YOU are there
Somewhere between the three-way tag-team match ending with everyone flying out of the ring onto the metal entrance ramp, burlesque performer Bella Sue Deviante coming out in a sexy bat-dress, and John the Savage tearing up the musical front between matches, it occurred to everyone that this was going to be the best year yet for Mondo Lucha!
The brainchild of hosts Jay Gilkay and Andrew Gorzalski (er, we mean “PATH” the manager to the sleazier wrestling villians) returned for another yearly showcase at the Turner Hall Ballroom. Audience members saw high-flying luchadors like Zero Gravity and sultry performances by GoGo McGregor, Lola Van Ella, and Amber Ray. They got free PBR foam signs thrown to them. There was a tribute to Charlie Chaplin by “Sammich,” and Hall of Fame inductions for the Brewcity Bruisers and The Goat, who couldn’t make it that night. Or could he?
TCD Photographer Lacy Landre and I witnessed the action. We came back with not only a slideshow, but a 15-minute audio capsule of the event.
