I Got Yule, Babe

Spoofs of Christmas songs and the Creature From the Black Lagoon put a different slant on the holidays.

As Christmas draws nearer, the holiday events keep coming but are getting a little odder and more offbeat. Off the Wall Theatre premieres their Christmas comedy The Creature from the Black, Black Lagoon and the Waukesha Civic Theatre hosts the comic concert I Got Yule, Babe, which sends up the season musically. There’s also plenty of more traditional fare on tap. The full list includes:

Off the Wall Theatre presents their kooky Christmas comedy, “The Creature from the Black, Black Lagoon” from Dec. 18-31. Tickets are $25, available online or call (414) 484-8874.

Music

Milwaukee Handbell Ensemble will perform at Concordia University on Monday, Dec. 16. at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $10, $8 for seniors and $5 for ages 18 and younger.

Master Singers of Milwaukee present Rejoice!  featuring the Milwaukee High School of the Arts Choir at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $18, $15 for seniors and $5 for students. They are also available online or call (262) 781-9520.

David HB Drake presents his “Let There Be Light” Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Mitchell Park Conservatory (The Domes).  

Santa Gets Rocked Holiday Show presents rock cover band The Cheap Shots as part of the Music Under Glass series at the Mitchell Park Conservatory (The Domes) on Thursday, Dec. 19 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.50, $5 for seniors/students.

CT-YuleBabe-lgWaukesha Civic Theatre presents Comedy Tonight’s I Got Yule, Babe, a comic concert featuring hilarious holiday hits on Monday Dec. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. This show is for ages 13 and older. Tickets are $10, $8 for students/seniors, available online or call (262) 547-0708.

Visual Art

Peck School of the Arts presents Arts and Technology Night where students will transform three floors of the Kenilworth Square East building into an interactive gallery on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Milwaukee Art Museum presents Open Studio: Art of the Present from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 and Sunday, Dec. 22. Free with Museum admission.

Dance

Peck School of the Arts students will show off their work at the African and Salsa/Merengue showing on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Helen Bader Concert Hall. Admission price is “pay-what-you-can.”

Feed Milwaukee Holiday Gala to benefit The Hunger Task Force at Turner Hall Ballroom on Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. Give your donations at the door and enjoy a DJ, complimentary beer, wine and appetizers, a silent auction, Santa pictures, and more.

Great Lakes Distillery hosts Yelp’s Holiday Wrap-Up Party from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.  The free event will feature a gift wrapping station, a signature holiday drink list and a Santa photo booth.
