Choral Union to Perform “Sunrise Mass” Reception Follows, Celebrating 40th Anniversary

“Sunrise Mass” will be performed by Waukesha Choral Union at 7 p.m. May 3 at St. Williams Church, 440 Moreland Blvd., Waukesha.

Waukesha, WI – The lush harmonies and stunning melodies of Ola Gjeilo’s “Sunrise Mass” will be performed by Waukesha Choral Union at 7 p.m. May 3 at St. Williams Church, 440 Moreland Blvd., Waukesha.

Special-priced tickets are half off the usual $15 for adults, $13 for seniors/students and $4 for youngsters age 12 and under. They are available at any Waukesha Bank location, from any member of the Waukesha Choral Union, online at www.choralunion.org or by calling 414-297-9310.

The concert – the final performance in Waukesha Choral Union’s 40th Anniversary season – will be followed by a special reception marking the occasion.

“We are very excited to bring to bring this new, contemporary work to our community,” said Waukesha Choral Union President Mary Stephani. “It employs traditional mass elements presented in a variety of moods.  The reception will celebrate our 40-year mission of performing exceptional choral music and recognize the people who made it possible. This promises to be a very special evening.”

The reception after the performance is a cooperative venture between the Choral Union and Leadership Waukesha, part of the Waukesha County Business Alliance. It will feature music presented by past and present artistic directors, Waukesha Choral Union memorabilia, raffle gifts and refreshments.

Active in the community for more than 60 years, the Waukesha Choral Union’s roots date back to 1949. A combined group composed of the Carroll College Chorus and community members of the Waukesha Choral Society became the Town and Gown in 1961. The group became the Waukesha Choral Union in 1974.
