Festival City Symphony Celebrates the Season with “Spring is in the Air” Pajama Jamboree Concert
Festival City Symphony will conclude its “Pajama Jamboree” season with Spring Is in the Air, a free concert on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 7:00 p.m.
Milwaukee, Wis.—Festival City Symphony (FCS) will conclude its “Pajama Jamboree” season with Spring Is in the Air, a free concert on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in the Bradley Pavilion of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, 123 E. State Street entrance.
The orchestra will perform lively selections to celebrate spring, including “The American Frontier” arranged by Calvin Custer and “Americana” by Arthur Harris. The concert will conclude with the popular FCS tradition of young audience members having an opportunity to conduct the finale, “On, Wisconsin.”
The special guest, folksinger and musician David HB Drake, will perform sing-a-long songs including “She’ll Be Coming ’Round the Mountain” and “This Land Is Your Land.” He will accompany each of his songs with a different instrument: guitar, dulcimer, concertina, banjo, and Native American flute. Drake, a Wisconsin troubadour, has spent over thirty years presenting concerts at fine arts centers, festivals, schools, community centers, and concert stages throughout the Midwest.
All “Pajama Jamboree” concerts have free admission. Hosted by Education Director Jayne Perkins, these popular programs welcome children and their parents or grandparents to attend in casual dress or pajamas. The audience is invited to bring a blanket and sit on the floor, up close to “meet” the orchestra. Conventional seating is also available. Pajama Jamborees are best suited for children in K4 through fifth grade.
Milwaukee’s Festival City Symphony, the oldest performing symphony orchestra in the area, showcases area professional musicians.
