MILWAUKEE – February 4th, 2014 – Miss Ava Padilla, a thirteen year old ballet student at Milwaukee’s Academy of Classical Ballet, has recently been accepted into the Joffrey Ballet’s prestigious summer program. This particular program is geared for a select few who have enough potential to dance professionally. Competition is quite strong, as thousands of dancers from all over the United States and the world audition for acceptance by the Joffrey staff.

Miss Padilla set herself apart from the other applicants right off the bat. She was the only dancer to eat while waiting to audition, and eat ravenously without a shred of guilt. Other dancers looked on in what seemed to be a mixture of shock and envy. In the audition Miss Padilla reported that she felt well prepared and comfortable in her abilities. Her confident demeanor, her skills as a dancer, and her healthy attitude seemed to win the day.

About Ava Padilla: Miss Padilla began training with staff at the Academy of Classical Ballet when she was six years old. Upon turning eight, she began her formal ballet training at the Academy and with dedication and steady work quickly advanced through multiple levels of training. Now in her fifth level of training and second year of pointe work she has advanced enough to perform variations from many classical ballets. As she continues to pursue her training at the Academy, no doubt she will continue to achieve even greater heights of excellence and dance enjoyment.

About the Academy of Classical Ballet

Operating since 2006, the Academy of Classical Ballet is the only dance school in the nation to change traditional ballet training in favor of medical expertise. The Academy’s ballet training program was developed with the help and expertise of leading physicians who specialize in the treatment and prevention of dance injuries. As a ballet school, the Academy is committed to abolishing the current reality that “a dancer is always in pain”, and other destructive norms of the dance world, from abusive teaching practices and unqualified teachers to disordered eating. The Academy has been home to dancers from all over Southeastern Wisconsin, as well as abroad.
